Last time i checked (which was not any time in the last month, so what do i know) the word on Obama’s energy plan has been good. Not movement-mustering, but fine.

This his first big step forward on energy.

And at first glance, without having read any of the finer analysis that will come soon, it seems really, really smart. It’s going to seem at first like it’s a significant concession, that he’s caved on another point - but given a huge development package on the table, we shouldn’t mind some more drilling. in the scheme of things, if one is to believe in the hope for change etc etc, it very well could be a pivotal point at which environmental victories become winnable. certainly seems to deflate one of mccain’s few remaining balloons.
